|Lookin out at our piazza.

So it's been a week since we left home. I miss so much but Italy is amazing. Steph cried at the airport and we were all pretty nervous that she wouldn't have any fun but she's better now even though we've had the shittiest luck. The Firenze (Florence) airport was closed down because of wind or some bull and the Pisa airport was so full with overflow that we had to land in Genova and take a three hour bus ride. Most of us were way too tired to even think about eating but we had our welcome dinner like as soon as we landed. We even had our bags put in a separate room while we ate. The food was pretty great and Stephanie began a love affair with panacota that night. After dinner we took taxis to our apartment and realized that people drive however they want down these crazy small streets. They gave Steph and me our own apartment but Noe, John, and Steve got the apartments down the hall. Our place is so cute. Bathroom, kitchen/dinning/living area, and a bedroom but we have the greatest view. Out of our windows you can see the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella and the basilica of the same name which is actually where Galileo was prosecuted. It took us about four days to realize that significance but it seems nuts now. We were exhausted but we had to go get money so we went exploring and realized that our banks had locked our cards even though we told them we'd be out of the country.
The next day we had school and then an art walk but Steph and I weren't dressed to go into a church so we stayed outside and got a phone card to call our banks and they had us confirm the eighty thousand times we attempted to get money out but we had it fixed before everyone came back. We then went to L'Accademia which is where they have Michelangelo's David. Are you shitting me with that statue? It's absolutely amazing and one of the most impressive things I've seen in a while and I'm not just saying that because he's naked. When we got home we managed to lock ourselves out of our lovely apartment. We walked outside to say something to Noe and the wind shut the door behind us! Steph was wearing pjs and neither of us had shoes on. We called our coordinator and she told us that we had to take a taxi to some other apartment place to get the key, come home and open the door and get our key, and then return the key...without shoes on. Noe and Steve let us borrow money for the cab and shoes and Noe and John came with us. We decided to walk to return the key since we had our shoes and actually had lots of fun just exploring.
On Friday it was Gigi's birthday so him Jojo, Austin, Sasha, Alison, Caroline, Steph and I all went to dinner. We had to cross the Ponte Vecchio to get to the restaurant and it's just such a site. It has what look like just old italian homes on either side of it but I can't imagine people live there and if they do then I'm way jealous. Dinner was amazing and our waiter looked like Michael Keaton and was super nice. He treated Joey and Gian to limoncellos and put a candle on Gigi's tiramisu. We went for a couple drinks afterwards but all us girls were too tired for the all nighter them crazy boys were planning so we left them to their madness.
On Saturday we slept in. I've never exhausted for an entire week straight but right now I am still TIRED. We had homework due on Monday so we all went to the Bargello museum to find our 15 astronomically related objects and saw that they were performing Macbeth there that night so we all got tickets. That museum was great too. It's an amazing backdrop for all the artwork. It used to be some kind of prison and the courtyard where we saw Macbeth performed used to be where they tortured people.
On Sunday we studied for our test. We were gonna go to Pisa but the trains went on strike! Studying was smart though. Steph texted me this morning saying I got on A on the test and then called me to say she hates me.
Yesterday we had school and then a meeting with our super cool Italian landlord named Giuseppe. No lie. Then we went shopping and I died a little when I couldn't buy everything from intimissimi. We had dinner with John and then came home and passed out.
But the torture of my life right now is these damn mosquitos. They tried to murder me last night and I didn't sleep at all so I skipped out on class this morning. Now I'm sitting at the dinning room table looking out onto our Piazza and not wanting to get dressed for the art walk 'cause it's so pretty out. But I must so I can get out and explore right? Maybe I'll update weekly. I should. I'll try.
